I came across this article on the recently ended four-month strike by driving instructors in Canada’s largest province, Ontario.
The driving instructors are represented by the United Steelworkers. Sure, the driving instructors test drivers who are driving in cars made out of steel, but that’s a pretty tenuous link. It’s a sign of how domestic steel production has been on the decline, and such trade unions have had to reach beyond their traditional constituencies, in order to survive.
