Thanks to Memehunter, who informed me that as of April 25, 2012, TheDailyBell.com has disabled all comments on their articles.
“Effective April 25, 2012, the Daily Bell will discontinue allowing feedback comments. We have left in place the large body of responses posted in the past, as we appreciate the valuable contributions made by some of our readers.”
Bell continusly shuts down my ability to post on their website. I can log in under a different account on facebook and it works fine but twice in the last week Bell has made it so that I can’t post comments.
What did you say before that they may have taken exception with? I’ve been critical of them for some things, but blocking comments isn’t something I’ve heard of them doing before.
They allowed Memehunter to constantly challenge them when they had their old comment system in place last year.

Seems to me that when abusive, nasty comments begin to dominate, the thing is to stop accepting comments and maybe offer a different option, such as emailing in comments directed at specific posts. Easier to manage and it also discourages uncivilized commentators.
I asked the Daily Bell Directly, why they shut down the comments section. . .
No Response.
They are now going to restore that section. I like to read the comments.
I am a simple minded, uneruditious, reader, and have learned a lot from the levels of conversations on the Bell.
I am succinct in any and all comments. . .

Another former DB regular, Bionic Mosquito, offers his theory:

Hi there, John the Just here. I just recently started posting my feedback comments to The Daily Bell. I greatly enjoy their editorials and interviews – plus the ability to then discuss them with such as Memehunter and Bischoff.
The Internet is a big place. Why not establish a Feedback Comments to The Daily Bell here or elsewhere?
Go ahead and add comments here and if there’s enough interest, I’ll create a separate page.
This caught my attention from Friday’s The Daily Bell’s offerings – “Conclusion: This is a crux question then: How do you manage the end of the world as it is without jeopardizing your larger source of control?” This was from the article “Selective Doubt at the Milken Money Conference” Friday, May 04, 2012 – by Staff Report. http://www.thedailybell.com/3855/Selective-Doubt-at-the-Milken-Money-Conference
I think this question is a constant rankling problem for the Powers that Shouldn’t Be. The Ships of State are purposely being made more and more unseaworthy on their watch (the very crews that have the responsibility to keep us afloat). They want us to founder so that they can appear to be saving our lives as they transfer us from our individual Ships of State onto Barge NWO. Their problem lies in just how close to actually sinking they will have to push us before they can get us to scramble rat-like from our ships across hastily constructed planks onto the safety of Barge NWO.
If there is too much panic during the last stages of their sabotaging the individual States, the situation may well spiral out of their control. As is always the case – all the power of any State is resident in its people. Barge NWO has no power to provide security for the drowning masses – if in deed they are really all drowning. If the situation devolves into an every-man-for-himself affair, there will be no one available to rescue anyone, and the Elite may soon find themselves sucked into the whirlpool along with everyone else. They wouldn’t like that – they have never had to learn to swim on their own.
I don’t know exactly what motivated the Daily Bell’s decision, but I have a feeling that a thread like this one must have been hard for them to tolerate:
Taxes vs. Fed – What’s to Blame?
http://thedailybell.com/bellinclude.cfm?id=3821&bid=1&StartRow=1&PageNum=1#postFeedback
If you read Ingo Bischoff’s deconstruction of anarcho-capitalism on that thread, you can understand why the Daily Bell could not allow this to go on for much longer (and of course, they cannot or don’t want to engage in a full-blown “war of words” with Bischoff).
Right. Ingo Bischoff kept on repeating that anarcho-capitalism “won’t work” and that we would slit each others throats and collectively resort to cannibalism as soon as there would be no government, supervizing us.
Some “deconstruction”, indeed.
The fact of the matter is, I don’t know why the Daily Bell shut down it’s comment section, but it seems that Ingo Bischoff’s “deconstructing of anarcho-capitalism” had nothing whatsoever to do with it, since Ingo did no such thing.
Read their statement carefully, folks. It could mean they plan on leaving all comments up, or more likely, they mean to excise some of the most revealing comments.
Also note their mention of “valuable contributions made by some of our readers.” I don’t think they much appreciated my comment back in 2011, drawing attention to their founder working for large international banks, and Memehunter repeatedly hammering points home, including linking to excerpts from my articles, nor Anthony Migchels having some of his criticisms broadcast to the many readers of HenryMakow.com.
