I have been invited to speak to a local gathering of libertarians in Waterloo Region, at Benny’s Restaurant McGinnis Front Row in Waterloo, on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 7 PM.

I will be speaking about the focus of my blog and radio show, Exposing Faux Capitalism, which includes the underreported successes of interest-free and government-issued currencies, criticisms of Austrian economics and the importance and success of limited government dedicated solely to protecting life, liberty and property.

Location details can be found here. All are welcome. Anyone interested should RSVP to Phil Bender at phil.libertarian@gmail.com so he can reserve a large enough table.

Image of Lew RockwellLewRockwell.com claims to be “anti-state”, yet on March 28, 2013, Lew Rockwell wrote on his blog:

John Carney writes about what Cypriot banksterism has done for Bitcoins. However, they are not money, but a (we hope) private way to transfer funds. Money is what you can take to Kroger’s and exchange for groceries.

This is an amazing admission from a man who has made a career out of blasting government, and it’s also bizarre for him to be calling government-issued currency money in the same sentence as claiming Bitcoin isn’t money, despite it being non-coercively issued and exchanged.

I have pointed out several times on my radio program that the primary function of money is as a medium of exchange, and Bitcoin meets that test. If one were to question Bitcoin as a store of value, then one must also question gold as a medium of exchange, since it has more use as a store of value than as a medium exchange, and therefore doesn’t primarily function as the primary characteristic of money.

For more on Lew Rockwell, see my articles:

1) Lew Rockwell “banned” this Paul Craig Roberts article — we think you have the right to see it

2) Tom Woods had no time for a Bitcoin conference, yet had time to misrepresent government-issued currencies

3) Lew Rockwell.com’s latest pro-state article

4) Lew Rockwell entered into a voluntary agreement with the same government he regards as “far worse than the mafia”

5) Lew Rockwell says MSNBC is blocking their regular contributor, Pat Buchanan, from discussing his new book, but what about LewRockwell.com keeping certain articles by its regular contributors from its readers?

After taking nearly three and a half years to reach 100,000 views, FauxCapitalist.com has reached 200,000 views in under a year, on January 4, 2013.

As I said at the time, while some alternative media content farms reach this level of views in a single week or a month, I decided to provide a real solutions-oriented alternative for economic and political issues, with 100% original content, all without a single penny of advertising revenue, and that remains the case.

Since then, I started the radio program, Exposing Faux Capitalism, and have conducted 17 interviews, including some prominent figures in the alternative media.

no spam!

Beginning in the early hours of November 25, 2012, I started receiving what would end up being 30 suspicious spam comments on my blog, all with links to different Facebook profiles, and all containing at least one spelling mistake.

I had never experienced this before in the four years I have run my blog.

This came just over a week after my November 18 article, It’s official: The Daily Bell lied about their website numbers, and a week after my November 21 article, The Daily Bell demonstrates the importance of impression management.

The reason I mention that is because out of the first 30 spam comments, four were on articles about the Daily Bell, which is statistically significant, given that I have written over 670 articles since 2008. In addition to the spam comments on articles about the Daily Bell, many of the others were related to things that the Daily Bell regularly writes about such as gold, silver and so-called fiat currency.

The second round of suspicious spam comments was even more revealing, with four out of the 18 being about the Daily Bell.

First I was ignored by the Daily Bell, then they clicked through to my site at least three times after my articles got picked up on Michael Rivero’s What Really Happened, and after it was proven that they had lied about their website numbers, I got a regular reader insisting he’s not a “DB agent” writing in-depth criticisms and never bothering to comment on his assertion being proven to be incorrect that the Daily Bell hadn’t adopted an “elite methodology” it had previously blasted, when I showed the screen capture of the Daily Bell including Alexa verification code on their site.

For more on the Daily, see my comprehensive set of articles here.

Here are some interesting statistics concerning how social media will affect the November 6, 2012 United States presidential election.

Social media can be used to provide a counterbalance to the two-party system lock on elections in the United States, whether it be the promotion of a third party candidate or a vote for “None of the above,” as some jurisdictions effectively allow by declining your ballot.

I have achieved successful outreach through various social media for my blog and radio program, and I have found that prominent personalities are more apt to respond through sites like Twitter and Facebook where the exchanges can be publicly seen, than through private email.

Consider, additionally, smaller social media sites, which are less apt to be controlled with content filters and more strict account restrictions, in the case that you have an important message to get out that may not be popular for most readers.

Julian IchimJulian Ichim, an anti-G20 activist, is scheduled to be on Exposing Faux Capitalism with Jason Erb on October 14, 2012.

From the September 20, 2012 Waterloo Region Record article:

Activist Julian Ichim was committed to stand trial Tuesday for violating a publication ban in place for the G20 trials by writing a blog containing the pseudonym of an undercover police officer.

Previously, I wrote the articles, Boycott G20 summits just as rigged elections are boycotted and Canada’s government blatantly disregarded the law in run-up to the 2010 G8/G20 summits.
